Trump Calls Families of Injured National Guard Personnel to the White House

Former President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has invited the family of a Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the executive mansion.

He noted that he contacted her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Details on the Devastating Event

US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on Wednesday in DC.

Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in grave state.

Gatherings across the state have taken place in their remembrance.

Presidential Invitation

The commander-in-chief stated he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the families of both members of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” Trump addressed reporters. “And in the same way with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Community Reaction

Attendees came together over the weekend at the high school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.

Both they had been serving with the state guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to support policing efforts in DC.

Remembering Beckstrom

“Sarah was the type of pupil that educators wished for. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a warm expression and a positive energy that lifted those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of her previous school, informed the press. “She was sweet, compassionate and always ready to assist people.”

Service details for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Judicial Actions and Government Revisions

Authorities have charged a 29-year-old suspect with a charge of homicide and charges of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The event prompted the government to suspend asylum applications and halt providing visas to owners of Afghan passports.

Condition of Wolfe

Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, enlisted in early 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, according to the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, the state’s leader Morrisey mentioned on television.

Attorney general Bondi informed Fox News Sunday that she aimed to visit his relatives.

Memory of the Fallen Soldier

Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a MP with distinction, as stated by the military.

“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had fortitude,” he informed the audience at the vigil. “Though her life was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
