The Streaming Platform is Producing a Far Cry TV Series from the Minds of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.

The most recent action-packed title that audiences dived into was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and debuted during October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is famous for delighting in chaos and madness with the same enthusiasm, all while telling captivating, ideologically themed stories. Little surprise that FX's new order for a Far Cry seasonal program pulled in two creators whose projects have represented all of those things.

What to Expect

Based on Ubisoft's successful video game series, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The show will also mirror the video games' style by having a different location and cast of characters in each season.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as executive producers on the series via their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is innovative, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our associates at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this beloved property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also feature in the show, but at the time of writing, we do not know what role that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new comprehensive agreement with the showrunner.

“Being able to collaborate together with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly supportive, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game universes ever created. And through it all, my FX partners constantly supports me with their ongoing belief and support.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology show. Every title is a take of a idea, the same way every series of Fargo is a version on a story,” said Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always examining the essence of people through this complex and unpredictable perspective, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to work with Rob and present our mutual bold, daring sensibility to the audience.”

A time frame for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
