Former Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Involving 38 Patients

Prosecutors report that a former doctor has been charged with carrying out assaults against 38 victims who were patients.

The Serious Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.

A senior prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Investigation

These allegations come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Breakdown of Offences

Prosecutors outline the 45 sexual offences comprise:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.

Authorities have asked individuals with information to contact the investigating team.
