Arne Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it was understandable for concerns to be asked about his position following another convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth loss in twelve games, representing the team's poorest run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I've received significant backing from the top,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to turn it around and secure a win of course but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it's typical that people question you.”

He continued, “I am OK with my position. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Discussions with The Board

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot explained:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me constantly of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “During our regular conversations we have I sense the confidence. However I've not talked to them since this match so far so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Issues and Player Response

Slot expressed regret over familiar failings from his squad in their Champions League loss, namely missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones remarked.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the words.”

He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club for years.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a phase such as this with outcomes this poor.”

He stated, “However we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And as long as it is taken away, we’re always going to fight.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to the top, demonstrate to all again the values of this club and the reason it's called the top club in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
